Holistic Approach to Wellness

Elaine has a holistic approach to Equine health and wellness. Restrictions in the fascia may be caused by a variety of reasons. The key is to find the cause as this will minimise recurring issue/injury.

There are lots of factors to consider in regards to your horses' health and well-being. Regular bodywork works towards preventing and/or minimising injury by removing restrictions before they develop into a significant problem which is much more difficult to resolve.

Mental, physical and biological health are connected. A healthier horse, will have all three aspects taken into consideration. Performance horses will generally have more stress in their lives compared to breeding stock for example.

Stress

Mental Stress

Boredom

Change in Environment

Change in Workload

Change in Rider

Change in Equipment

Physical Stress

Poorly fitting tack/equipment

Injury

Discomfort

Unbalanced Diet

Biological Stress

Unbalanced Diet

Environment

Unmanaged pain, for example Gastric Ulcers

Changes in behaviour, and their 'way of going' are normally indicators of stress.

For example, if we have a horse that has been diagnosed with Gastric Ulcers only treating the ulcers is not enough. Something else has caused the ulcers, whether it's pain, or unbalanced nutrition or mental stress. It is all connected.

The Five Freedoms

Freedom From Hunger & Thirst

Freedom From Discomfort

Freedom From Pain, Injury or Disease

Freedom To Express Normal Behaviour

Freedom From Fear & Distress

These five freedoms are essential to ensure that the horses live happy, healthy lives.
